Afra Health Initiative is an independent, Community-Based Organisation based inMogadishu and registered with the Somali government composed of a team of Professional Medical Doctors and Specialists on a mission to transform the lives ofmarginalised groups, vulnerable youths for better future generations through the provisionof medically led initiatives and outreach projects.
Afra Health Initiative was established to provide accessible and evidence-based medicalservices and outreach schemes to those who need them the most. We are currentlysupporting peri-urban and rural communities through the provision of sustainablematernal child healthcare for people living in poverty through an inclusive model thatengages a multitude of stakeholders.
Afra Health Initiative strives to improve both the quality and accessibility of healthcarefor all Somalis through advocacy, coalition building, capacity building, outreach, andtraining of beneficiaries and duty bearers. AHI was founded in 2022 by a dedicated groupof Somali physicians working in health facilities and communities across the country.
AHI believes that health outcomes can be improved by putting in place laws, policies andprograms that are responsive to the needs of those who are poor and vulnerable, such aswomen and children, historically marginalized communities, people living with HIV/AIDS,young people and other marginalized populations
